Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury & disease using a physical approach as an alternative or adjunct to medication to promote & stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms and to restore normal tissue health & function.

 What sort of conditions can physiotherapy help?

Spinal problems –  back pain, neck pain, sciatica, whiplash, headaches pelvic pain  during pregnancy, osteoporosis
Joint problems –       shoulder, hip, knee and ankle pain and stiffness
Sports injuries –        muscle / tendon strains, sprained ankle, tennis elbow
Children’s growth problems –    poor posture, scoliosis, knee pain
Occupational complaints –         postural back and arm/wrist pain
Post operative rehabilitation –   joint replacement, general surgery
Neurological rehabilitation –      stroke, Multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons

  • Domiciliary visits – for patients unable to attend the clinic
  • Electrotherapy – ultrasound, interferential therapy, TENS
  • Ergonomic assessments – workstation, vehicle & lifting/handling
  • Exercise & fitness advice – personalised exercise programmes to assist recovery and rehabilitation
  • Health Education – talks to groups in industry, sports clubs, support groups         charities
  • Massage – specialist massage to aid relaxation & promote circulation
  • Manual therapy – joint & soft tissue mobilisation
  • Nursing/residential home visits – for rehabilitation & exercise classes
  • Occupational Health – links with local industry to prevent work related conditions

 

We are now able to offer a  Women’s Health Physiotherapy Service at both Woopit and Stowmarket Clinics. This is open to self-referral or referrals and recommendations from GPs, midwives and health visitors and can help with the following problems

  • pelvic floor function and dysfunction
  • stress urinary incontinence, urge urinary incontinence, discomfort through early stages of prolapse
  • pre and post gynaecological or urological surgery
  • musculoskeletal pain during and after pregnancy
